wall paper
I’m just crazy about wallpaper and have been hanging it for as long as I can remember. Being English and coming from a long line of paper hangers – my mum, her mum and so on, it’s always seemed a perfectly natural thing to me to adorn the walls in pattern and texture. In England and America, wallpaper never went out of fashion, but here in Australia, for years even the mention of the word has the people recalling tales of mysery and days spent stripping the stuff. Well forget those spoil sports, if you’re into your decorating – I’m here to tell you it’s back and here to stay.
A short while ago I papered the wall in my bedroom, just behind the bed. I chose a Catherine Martin design called Lyrebirds, made by Porters. It took just three hours and looks amazing – even my other half loves it, despite the mental torment that all wallpaper is ‘bad’ and ‘old fashioned’!
