Laundry detergents are available in either liquid or powder form use with washing machines, as specified on their labelling

Wool wash is gentle and should be used instead of regular laundry detergents for washing wool and delicate fabrics. Alternatively, pure soap flakes may be used

Dishwashing liquid is a mild, perfumed detergent which should be diluted with water for general cleaning

Soap refills in liquid form are a cost effective way to fill dispensers

Household bleach can be used for cleaning and brightening, disinfecting, removing mould and mildew, as well as stain removal

Antibacterial cleaners and antiseptics assist with keeping germs at bay 
 
Toilet gel is a thick cleaner which often contains bleach and de scaling agents for use in the toilet bowl

Nappy soak is a mild form of bleach which contains softeners and detergents and is useful for gently soaking and cleaning white fabrics

Spray stain removers help with general staining and should be sprayed on prior to washing

Paste cleanser is useful as a mild abrasive for general cleaning but you need to be careful not to damage the surface being cleaned

Oven cleaners are harsh and should be used with care

Furniture polish is a perfumed spray that adds shine and lustre to timber furniture

Window cleaning spray should be used with a dry, lint-free cloth to remove marks from glass and mirrors

White vinegar can be used with washing soda and hot water to clear a blocked drain. A capful added to window or floor washing water will also add shine

Bicarbonate of soda mixed with a few drops of water forms a natural paste which cuts through light grease and oil and is useful as a mild abrasive
