Chalkboard
Who doesn't need a few little reminders now and again – especially when they can look this good! Chalkboards are an old idea but such a goody.
Make them as small or large as you like and hang them in the kitchen or the hall – anywhere the whole family can clearly see. Chalk on your messages and there'll be no more excuses for missed appointments.
You will need:
Picture frame new or second hand
Small sheet of 3mm MDF
Dulux 1 Step, Primer, Sealer, Undercoat
Dulux Aquanamel – low sheen off white
Chalkboard paint
Shells
Pencil
Hot glue gun
Light sandpaper
Chalk
How to:
1. Remove the picture, backing board (and glass) before lightly sanding the frame. Prime the frame using the Dulux 1 Step Undercoat and allow to dry before painting with the Aquanamel
2. Next, using the old picture backing board as a size guide, pencil around it onto the 3mm mdf before cutting out carefully using a sharp Stanley knife
3. Paint the new mdf board with the Chalkboard paint you may need to apply a couple of coats
4. Once everything is dry, assemble the frame, securing the backing board in place with small nails. For decoration, use the hot glue gun to add shells.
