A smart pin board like this is a handy and decorative way to keep papers and cards from over-crowding your desk.

To make a covered pin board, you could use an ordinary cork board, or else head to your local hardware and ask them for a product called 'Caneite'.

Caneite is a pre-primed pulp board, great for notice boards and often available in large sections allowing it to be cut into various sizes as well as shapes.

Unlike corkboards, Caneite is frameless so is flat and easy to wrap in fabric.

You will need:

1 x piece of fabric
1 x sheet of Caneite
Lengths of ribbon
Hot glue gun or craft glue
Thumb tacks or staple gun with short staples
Push pins
Picture wire

How to:

1. Cut the caneite to size

2. Trim the fabric so it's large enough to cover the entire board, allowing extra for wrapping and attaching to the back. Iron, then lay face down on a flat surface

3. Place the Caneite down on to the fabric ensuring it sits straight if there is a pattern. Wrap the fabric firmly and attach to the back of the board using glue, as well as thumb tacks or staples for a firm hold

4. Add the ribbon by wrapping over the front of the board, criss-crossing at various intervals. Attach these securely to the back

5. Attach the picture wire about one third of the way down from the top of the board, and it will be ready to hang
