MG_7427.jpgmotif lamp shades

There's no need for sewing here, it’s easy and fast to turn plain lampshades into 'designer shades' using iron-on Vliesofix.

This really is fun and makes it possible to coordinate your lamps in just minutes with all of the other fabric accessores in your room, simply by doing a bit of ironing!

Try a print which matches in with your bedroom or lounge area or create some unique lamp shades using colourful fabrics and character shapes for the kids.

You will need:

• 1 plain lamp shade
• Vliesofix (available at art or fabric stores)
• fabric
• iron
• hand towel
• sharp scissors

How to:

1. Attach the Vliesofix to the back of the fabric using an iron on a moderate setting.

2. Cut out enough shapes to work around the shade.

3. Peel the backing paper from each shape, one at a time then place in position on the shade.

4. Fold the towel in half and place on the inside of the shade under the shape – this will help protect your hands from the hot iron. Using the iron carefully ‘fix’ the shape in position taking care not to scorch or melt the shade.
