Designer Accessories

If you're looking to add a fresh and simple change to a room, try adding a few new accessories to really liven up the space.
Work to a theme, either by repeating the colour or style, and you will create more impact for less.
This project is all about creating your own affordable, matching accessories and most of the things you need, you may even already have. Things like a lampshade, a plain cushion, a canvas art panel as well as some spare fabric.
lampshade
You will need:
Hot glue gun
Fabric
Bias binding
Sharp blade craft knife
Bulldog clips
How to:
1. Use enough fabric to wrap fully around the lampshade, hold in place with several bulldog clips.
2. Starting at the top, apply a few dabs of the hot glue to secure the fabric in place. Work around the entire top rim, removing the clips as you go.
3. Stretch the fabric and use the clips to secure the lower rim. Repeat the step of gluing and removing the clips as you go. The fabric will now be securely attached to the shade, top and bottom.
4. Using the sharp blade, trim away any excess fabric to form neat edges.
5. Attach bias binding with the hot glue gun to hide the raw edges around both rims. This can also be used along the seam where both ends of the fabric meet.
cushion
You will need:
Plain cushion
Fabric
Vliesofix
Sharp scissors
How to:
1. Attach the Vliesofix to the fabric using an iron on a moderate setting.
2. cut out the motifs using sharp scissors.
3. Remover the backing paper then attach to the cushion by ironing on a moderate setting.
wall art
You will need:
Pre-stretched canvas panel (available at art stores)
Staple gun
Fabric
How to:
1. Iron the fabric to remove creases then lay face down on to a clean flat surface.
2. Lay the canvas panel face down on to the fabric and adjust so the patterns are straight.
3. Using a staple gun, secure the fabric to the canvas, stretching evenly as you go. Work all the way around.
4. Trim away any excess fabric and wire the canvas so it's ready to hang.
