Craft Circle Box

Tara Dennis craft circle box - make Mum a treasure box

Make Mum a colourful box to keep her craft bits or favourite treasures together. This one is extra special because you decorate it with your of paintings.

You will need:

Kids vibrant painting on paper
Circle punch - (you can use scissors but it takes longer and the shapes may vary)
Wooden box (even a shoe box will do the trick)
Paint – white for the base and two of the colours used in the paintings.
Mod Podge or craft glue

How to make:

1. Paint the outside of the box with a few coats of white paint. Use your bottle of glue to prop the lid open while the paint dries.

2. Choose your favourite colour from the painting for adding colour to the edge of the lid. Choose another colour and paint the inside too! The colour covers better if you use a coat of white first.

3. Cut or punch out plenty of circles from the paintings and arrange them on the top of the box. You'll need to space them so they fit neatly.

4. Brush glue to the underside of the circle and stick it down in it's place. Keep going until they're all in place.

If you want to protect the box, it's a good idea to go over the entire thing with a coat of Mod Podge or clear varnish. Leave it a day or two to dry before wrapping.

Tara's Top Tips

When painting on to wood it's a good idea to use an acrylic sealer before you start your first base coat. This stops the paint soaking into the wood and means you'll need less coats. A good one is Jo Sonja's All Purpose Sealer.
