easter

Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday following the Ecclesiastical full moon after March 20th. It falls on different dates each year and can occur as early as March 22nd or as late as April 25th.

Things we associate with Easter such as eggs, chicks and bunnies all symbolise new life, fresh beginnings and rebirth. Historically eggs were given as gifts, either wrapped in gold leaf or colored brightly by boiling with the leaves or flower petals.

The first edible Easter bunnies made of pastry and sugar were made in Germany during the early 1800s. Chocolate bunnies and eggs continue the tradition today.
