The lead up to Christmas is rush, rush, rush and for most of us decorating the table for the big day is often the last thing on our minds.  So if you’re feeling exhausted, forget having to run around any more, here are some easy ways to get your table looking fab in minutes using things you probably already have at home.

tara’s table tips:

• Use up any left over decorations, cards, gift tags and wrap to set the theme for your table.  Keeping to just two or three colours will help create that designer look

• Forget having to iron a table cloth, use a piece of sheer fabric from your sewing cupboard instead.  You’ll only need a couple of metres for an average size table and a fabric like organza is ideal.  If you need to buy it, organza costs only a few dollars per metre - that’s cheap enough to throw out if any red wine does get spilled!

• Another alternative to a table cloth is to use a 3m roll of colourful Christmas wrapping paper instead.  Run it down the middle of the table and set the plates on top – festive and fast!

• By using plain white plates and simple glasses, you can easily dress them up using coloured napkins, crackers and a few decorations
