Ribbons may require a few extra minutes of time, but a knot here or there or a nice bow can make an ordinary gift look incredible.

To create an easy-use ribbon dispenser for free, just grab a shoe box and trim a length of wire from a coat hanger with a pair of pliers.

Bend the wire over at one end and insert it through the side of the shoe box. Push it through the ribbon spools and through the other side. A piece of Blu-Tac will stop the wire from slipping back and can be easily removed when the ribbon spools need replacing.

When the wrapping is done the lid can go back on to keep the ribbon clean ‘til next Christmas.
